L'histoire de cette Patek Philippe Gondolo
La Maison Patek Philippe entretient un lien fascinant avec l'Amérique du Sud. Au début du 20e siècle, un détaillant de Rio de Janeiro nommé Gondolo et Labouriau commercialisait à lui seul près d'un tiers de la production genevoise. Le succès était tel que les clients locaux ne disaient plus acheter une montre, mais acheter un Gondolo. Pour contourner les lois brésiliennes sur les jeux de hasard, le détaillant avait même créé un club de 79 membres où un tirage au sort hebdomadaire permettait au gagnant de remporter immédiatement son garde-temps. En hommage à cet âge d'or et à l'esthétique Art Déco, la manufacture relance cette collection singulière dans les années 90. C'est dans ce riche héritage que s'inscrit la montre Patek Philippe Gondolo 4824J-011, avec son design intemporel et son architecture si rigoureuse.
Boîtier, calibre et bracelet de cette Gondolo
L'armure de cette pièce se distingue par un profil asymétrique à gradins forgé en or jaune 18k. Avec des dimensions contenues de 22 mm de largeur pour 28,5 mm de longueur corne à corne, elle épouse parfaitement le poignet. Dépourvue de cornes traditionnelles, la boîte intègre le bracelet directement dans sa structure. Le cadran blanc opalin met en lumière 12 chiffres arabes en volume appliqués à la main. La présence discrète du sigle sigma à 6 heures garantit que ces appliques, tout comme les aiguilles de forme glaive, sont usinées en or massif. L'intérieur de la boîte présente la désagrégation typique du revêtement et le coussin central est absent, ce qui constitue paradoxalement une marque formelle d'authenticité pour les coffrets de cette période. Le boîtier a bénéficié d'un polissage pour raviver l'éclat du métal précieux, bien que quelques marques plus profondes subsistent volontairement sur les flancs afin de préserver la géométrie originale de l'or massif.
