Around 1965, Yamaha began developing electric guitars. Under the directive of the late President Genichi Kawakami, the staff was tasked with creating an entirely original electric guitar. The result of this development was the YAMAHA SG.
The SG1000, released in 1976, is a representative model of the SG series and remains popular among enthusiasts today. Features like the Bi-Sound Systemwhich allows coil-tapping humbucking pickups to produce single-coil tonesand the Direct Circuitwhich prevents sound degradation in the high frequencies by avoiding groundingwere first introduced on the SG1000.
It produces a sound with remarkable warmth and a rich, full low-mid range. This rich low-mid range delivers a thick, P-90-like tone when switched to Bi-Sound mode.
The SG1000 Japan Vintage is the SG "standard model" built to carry on the legacy of the SG2000. It's an essential guitar when discussing Japanese vintage!
