The Ken Smith Black Tiger Elite is a premium, handcrafted boutique electric bass renowned for its striking exhibition-grade woods and signature hi-fi tone. It features a 5-piece body (exhibition walnut top/back, tiger maple core, and mahogany laminates) and a 5-piece aged maple/shedua neck. It is the flagship of the Tiger Elite Series - Ken Smith Basses.Core Features and SpecificationsBody & Top: Features a highly figured 5A exhibition-grade Crotch Walnut top and back. The core is typically Tiger Maple sandwiched with thin mahogany laminates for structural integrity and resonance.Neck: 5-piece laminated aged Hardrock Maple & Shedua (or Bubinga on older models), reinforced with graphite inlaid bars and a custom Smith dual-truss rod.Fretboard: Quartersawn Macassar Ebony with Mother-of-Pearl dot inlays and 24 frets.Electronics: Proprietary Ken Smith pickups and the updated Smith B.M.T. 3-band 18-volt EQ circuit. It includes internal 4-way DIP switches for adjusting specific frequency bands, plus a push/pull active/passive master volume.Hardware: Custom gold hardware, including a Smith QSR (Quick String Release) solid brass bridge and Gotoh/Ken Smith tuners.Finish: A thin Elite gloss lacquer (or lower-sheen catalyzed Italian varnish) designed to protect the wood while allowing for maximum natural resonance.
