In the vicinity: The nearest shop is a supermarket (Intermarché) which is 5 minutes walk/500m and the town of Imphy is about 1km with it's post office, bakery, two pharmacies etc. The nearest train station is Nevers (8km) which is on the main line from Paris. Nevers Cathedral with it's Romanesque and Gothic styles is a national monument. Magny-Cours which hosted the French Grand Prix from 1991 to 2008, lies ten kilometres away and is still used for racing and other events. The Loire valley spans 280 km and is referred to as the garden of France, due to the abundance of vineyards, orchards, asparagus and artichoke fields. The central part of the Loire river is now a UNESCO world heritage site and you can expect more than 200 hours of sunshine per month in summertime. The Loire valley wine region is known for its crisp and fruity flavoured wines. There are many famous Châteaux castles and monasteries to be visited in the area together with famous towns such as la Charité, Autun, Vézélay and Bourges all within easy reach in addition to an abundance of romantic little towns. No less than 5 UNESCO Cultural Heritage of the World locations are within reasonable reach. A beautiful landscape at the foot of the Morvan Mountains, where forests give way to lakes and little rivers turn the vast grazing fields of the famous white Charolais cattle into a lush green, hiking or bicycle tours or a promenade on horseback will be an unforgettable experience. Friends of good wine will not only find the famous cellars of Pouilly, Sancerre and Chablis but also some less known cellars that offer equally exquisite wines yet to be discovered...
