The IWC Portugieser Chronograph, reference IW371491, is the most harmonious and enduring chronograph in the Portugieser family, a design that has captivated collectors since its introduction in 1998 with its clear, uncluttered bi-compax layout and its characteristic peripheral precision tachymeter scale. This certified pre-owned example from 2019 is offered in very good condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories.

Crafted in stainless steel, the IW371491 presents the Portugieser Chronograph in a beautifully proportioned 40.9mm round case measuring 12.3mm in height, with a convex sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective coating on both sides and a screw-down crown and caseback ensuring 30 metres of water resistance. Elegant, slim, and refined in a way that makes most sport chronographs look unnecessarily complicated by comparison.

The blue dial is the centrepiece of this reference, deep and richly finished, with large luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers, a peripheral precision scale running the full circumference of the dial, a large central chronograph seconds hand, a 30-minute counter subdial at 12 o'clock, and a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock. A bi-compax layout of exceptional clarity that proves dial organisation is an art form in itself.

Powering the watch is the IWC Calibre 79350, a reliable automatic chronograph movement with 31 jewels, Pellaton winding system, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a generous 44-hour power reserve. A movement as refined and purposeful as the watch it inhabits.

The watch is delivered on its original black alligator leather strap with IWC deployant buckle.
